For those of you dying to know what is coming up next, we are going to talk about Christian disciplines. Things like praying, fasting, hospitality and so on. We are going to use Laura Winner's book Mudhouse Sabbath as a guide and entrance point into the discussions. Also, I am very excited because our interns are going to lead our reflections over two sections of the book. On February 20th, Dan McCarthy is going to guide us deeper into the discipline of prayer, and on February 27th Wyrene Medina is going to challenge us with the discipline of hospitality.

Sex Questions

If you have happened onto this blog, it is most likely because you received a pinkish orange ticket from someone at the Bridge. For the past few weeks we have been talking about sex, and in particular what Christian sex might look like. Needless to sat, there are a lot of questions that can come up, and this is one place to ask them. If you have a question, leave it as a comment in the comment section, and then I will either post a response here in the form of a blog, or we will talk about next Wednesday at the Bridge.

Our inaugural meeting of the Bridge did not go off without a hitch. Even given the many hitches, everything from being locked out of the theater, having no projector or sound equipment, forgetting to have greeters, the event was by all accounts a whopping success. We had a group of about 30 college students who wanted to praise God and fellowship together. No doubt we will get "better" at the presentation side of things, the music and preaching will come together, and we will be more organized, but my prayer this week is that we not lose that spirit of humility and desire to see God glorified in our midsts. We begin our study of Colossians on Wednesday, and are praying for God to challenge and teach us.

August 29th marks are first ever meeting of the Bridge. We will be meeting in the basement of the theatre building at St. Mary's at 9:30pm and will continue to meet throughout the semester on Wednesday nights in the basement at 9:30pm. The student leaders have already been working hard, and will now kick into overdrive to get our first meeting off to an excellent start. As part of a combined effort with local churches (Episcopal Church of Reconciliation and First Presbyterian Church) and the University Ministry, we hope to bring a number of Christian groups on St. Mary's campus together for praise and worship. We will have a more formalized mission statement and also t-shirts available soon. Check back in for more updates.
